Prepare a file for an upload limit

  1. Read the destination requirements first: accepted format, maximum file size and any image dimensions. File checker can help compare supported requirements.
  2. Choose Compress PDF for a document or Image tools for a picture. Start with a setting that keeps the detail you need.
  3. Download and inspect the result, especially small text. Compare the file size and keep the original if the new copy is not an improvement.

Before you download the final copy

Already optimized files may not become smaller. Image-based PDF compression removes selectable text, links and interactive form fields, so use it only when those features are not needed.

Check the file and page limits shown in your chosen tool, and review the output before using it. Download before closing the page; your original file stays unchanged.
